2000 or XP on K6-2 550 256MB

What would you install on a HP computer running a K6-2 550MHz and 256MB SDRAM? XP tends to run slower on older computers but the XP bootup is much faster than 2000. Compatibility wise I think both work well for your average user. XP is the more popular OS so I might be leaning towards that. I can put XP on performance mode to speed things up but overall which one would be the better one.

With 128-256 meg more ram xp would work ok but as it stands now 2000 is the best bet.

XP sux, especially on older machines. I've got 2k running on a K6-2 400 with 128MB ram, and it runs pretty sweet...😉

Believe it or not, 2K can run (well) on a 486.

I find 2000 doesn't run too hot w/ only 64 megs ram, but w/ 128+, I'd also recommend it.

you really do need 512 to run xp comfortably. 2000 if you have 256 ram, xp if you have 384+.

Windows 2000..........You would be surprised at how much faster it will run than Windows XP on an older machine.
