2000 honda accord v6 - how to replace the alternator?

Looking through the web, it sounds pretty straightforward on how to change an alternator. But the 2000 Honda Accord v6 is more of a pain. There doesn't look like a good or easy way to get access to it. Seems like I have to remove the plastic panel on the side?

Can any one with experience chime in on how best to remove the alternator? thanks in adv!

Honestly, go get a Haynes manual. They should have it at your local auto parts store. Your library may even stock them.

The way to change the alternator in an Accord is to change the car.

Look on eBay for the Service Manual on CD. It will have detailed instructions.

First you will need a cube of beef.
The alternator in my Ranger was easy to replace but There are a lot of cars I wouldn't want to touch

I see that only a few people are offering any useful information - since I have a 99 accord V6 I figured I'd give my $.02 - if your engine bay is like mine the alt is in front on the left side. You will need to release the belt before anything else. Use a socket wrench (with no socket) to spin the belt tensioner downward and remove the loose belt - there are 2 bolts and 2 electrical plugs on the alt - remove all of these and manuver the alt around your AC lines. Installation is reverse of the removal. Oh yeah and unplug the negative terminal on your battery for safety.

Like others said a chiltons or Haynes manual would go into specifics but almost all alternators are the same. Those crap delphi alts Honda was using are crap - just buy anything but another delphi
