Like hell it will be! It'll be right next to me, in NJ!

Actualy, there are still 2 sites proposed for it, one in NYC, one in NJ (Edit: Jersey City...brain fart). They are as of yet undecided.

approx 750ft of it is just a pole going up. What a ripoff. I want an ACTUAL tower that is 2K ft high. They should make it like a bubble dome :)

They would probably put it where the Twin Towers once stood. I'd like to see them build it on Liberty Island and rebuild the world trade center towers. The WTC was a landmark and a BIG part of NY. The Twin Towers were actually more celebrated than the ESB. Just make the original "footsteps" of the Twin Towers a memorial and shift the new Twin Towers over to the right. There is plenty of room for a memorial, restoring NY's glory, and other stuff like a cultural center.

While the TV Tower is tall and cool looking, I think it's a pussy way out of building the world trade center. We shouldn't bow down to terrorism!

I say they should just rebuild some taller twin towers, not something pointless like this.

BTW is this confirmed at all? This is the first I've heard of it

buildings can be designed to withstand more you know:p from the report the design for wtc was flawed.. well they did what they could at the time, they didn't have the computing capability to model fire etc.

The design wasn't flawed. It handled the impact just like it should have. But no one forsaw someone slamming a fully fueled 747(?) dead center into the tower and having a jet fuel fed inferno.

no, it was flawed according to the report. they didn't calculate the effects of the fuel, used bad flame retardent coatings on the steel, the joints connecting the floor to the supports were very weak, the central shaft that housed the escape staircases was not protected or separated from each other so the plane easily destroyed escape routes for many. etc etc etc


pbs nova on why the towers fell will replay may 20 and 21
