And even better.. if you got one.. how many miles do you have on it... and have you had any mechanical problems with it...

Reason:

I'm looking into buying a 2000 Focus se wagon w/ 31000 miles on it...

I heard they were unreliable and they have lots of major problems with them like the engin compartment catches fire or something.

I believe the focus has had major 8 recalls since 1999.

I've got about 30K on my 2000. It's been reilable as hell. Well, I did get a damned recall notice every couple of months for the first year or so, but other than that, it's been solid except for the fact that it seems to be a target for people on my street to run into it.
Twice in 2 months it was hit by people who left with no note or anything. First time was 5000 in damage, second time was only 300.

I have a 2000 Focus with about 30K on it too. It's been pretty reliable -- I've had no problems with it. Like Killface said, I also had a couple of recall notices and took my car in to get the free warranty work done on it (the last one was for the possible seal corrosion). While a bit of a nuisance, I prefer having recall notices (preventive maintaince) as opposed to having my car break down while driving.

So, I've been pretty happy with my Focus (even with the 2 or 3 recalls).

ford focuses (foci? hehe) are some of the ugliest cars i've ever seen.

american cars in general are also not the most reliable ones out there.

My friend has a 2000 Focus and he likes it a lot. You have to test drive it for yourself and compare it with other cars. Personally, I would have prefer a Mazda Protege for that type of car.

I've got the ZX3 2000 model. It was cheap. :)

I haven't had any problems, except for the locks, but that was covered under warranty. Other than that it's been alright. I miss my '96 Prelude, though. :(

Unfortunately my Honda accord broke down and for a car with lower milage and possible factory warranty, japanese cars were running a bit on the high side... fords seem to be allright as long as you dont go beyond 60K or so miles... so im looking in the 10k-30k miles for a 2000/1999 model... and it sould run me about $9k-12k to get something decent... :)

the car i was looking at is a red (burgundy) focus se wagon 2000 w/ 31k miles priced at 11k ...

I got my ZX3 with 22,800 miles on it for $11,900 out the door and they paid $1200 to buy out the rest of my lease. It's got A/C and automatic transmission.

I don't know anything about their reliability, etc., but I think the Focus is one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen.
