2000 Daewoo Nubira CDX?

I'm considering getting a new car (currently driving a 91' Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra), and with my limited funding (I am 17), I was looking at a 2000 or 2001 Daewoo Nubira CDX. They can be found in good condition for around $5500. What do you guys think?

Are you smoking crack? Hasn't Daewoo closed down most of it's dealerships here in the US? The fact that they have some of the worst crash test score in the industry doens't really help them out either.

Keep the Cutlass.

Daewoo was bought out by GM, but they are NOT supporting the american ones. I.e. no parts or service.

That and I think some dealers were selling these cars NEW for around $5000-7000 just to get rid of them.

No, I am not smoking crack. And yes, I do know that they were bought out by GM. But I did not realzie that it was so difficult to get parts. Thanks for the heads up.

Well then, givin my limited funding, find me a nice car that isn't more than a few years old. 98' or better would be nice.

I would stay far away from the Daewoo. As someone already pointed out, Daewoo is almost non-existent in the US. If you've got $5500-$6000 to spend, I'd look at Hondas or Toyotas first.

Why would you do that? You can get a better car for the money, or keep the Cutlass and save for something better.

If ya want a budget car, forget Daewoo. Get yourself a Hyundai or something. Hyundai makes pretty decent cars at nice prices.

I remembered reading something on Edmunds a couple year back on how law mandate car manufacturer to make parts available for 15-20 yrs after production end or something like that. Dunno if that responsibility falls to GM when they bought Daewoo. I knew Daewoo uses some Delco parts in them, so replacement Delco parts might still be feasible at the least.

yeah, you SHOULD be able to find parts somewhere, noone is saying that they will be readily available and CHEAP.
