200 vs. 266 FSB

Hi there. I have an older system, a PII-350 on an Asus P2B Mobo, and I want to play Black and White. Therefore, I am upgrading. My wife isn't so keen on B&W, however (she warns it will ruin our marriage, heh) and is a little suspicious of me spending hundreds of dollars just to play a game. So, I'm trying to upgrade pretty cheap. (Kids, let this be a lesson to you: Just because you get older doesn't mean someone still isn't barking over your shoulder that you can't have the toys you want!)

Anyway, I am pricing AMD 1 GHz chips, which seem to be a pretty good price point right now. My question is, does it make that much difference to go with 200 vs. 266 FSB? The 200 is obviously cheaper, but so are the motherboards that supports it, so I could save some money by going with the slower FSB. But will I regret this later? How much?

By the way, I'd also like to join in with my frag-happy friends and play some Tribes 2, so there are *two* games that will benefit from this upgrade (a fact which is lost on my wife).

IMHO you should get a KT133a chipset motherboard. The memory bandwidth is improved over the KT133 boards, and it OFFICIALLY supports the 266 Tbirds. It is a tossup on the 200 vs. 266 Tbirds, I say flip a coin. If you don't like overclocking, get the 266.

I would go with KT133A like a week ago. HOWEVER, since DDR-RAM is SOOO cheap now, you can buy it on Crucial. There has been report in this forum some one is able to run at 320 2-2-2!!
