$200 Gift Card with any iPad trade in at Target

Yeah a lot of targets are being shady about it... As if they don't want to do it. Bought an iPad Air from a store that "wasn't participating" and then went to another that was. They said they wouldn't return apple products (not even open) because they automatically assume there is something wrong with the device if somebody returns an "apple product" and they can't resell it.

So left with a $200 target gift card, and too lazy to go to the original store...

Around here they are still doing it fine (at least on Wednesday), the problem is Target was hoping this would be selling iPads and instead many are just using the money on products outside of that.

These promotions end on Saturday.

Hardly. The general population that shops at Target is very large and very stupid. People like us who are taking advantage of the promotion are barely a blip on their radar.

I saw many people trading in iPad 2s and even 3s for $200 credit. People were trading in iPods and older iPhones for less than $10 a piece. Target overall makes a lot of money from trade-ins.

2 scenarios:

Target wanna hope people will buy other things with a much higher margin than the ipad. (iPad for a reseller is ~ 5% requires you to sell 100k/month at that level) A huge reseller like target and best will receive a 7% margin, which I still think isn't worth it. So selling the ipad at near cost (479.99) doesn't really make target anything.

2. But they do have to move inventory to qualify to be an apple "Authorized Reseller", and they are under their quota, thus forcing people to purchase ipads.

Traded in my 1st Gen iPad 64Gb w/ 3G for $200 gift card with no problems. I used it to buy some shaving cream and other necessities... now I've got $193 on the card... apparently you can use it on anything in the store.

I used it in Metro Atlanta and they were being nazis. I had to use it immediately under observation. I could only use it on electronics.

I got the $200 card, but they were out of the new ipads. They're supposed to get new ones in at some point, but probably after the promotion is over, so there' no point buying the new ipad from them, I'll just find whoever has the best deal around black friday

I just sold my 16GB iPad2 on Ebay for $250, and replaced it with a 16Gb iPad4 from Swappa for $303. Not bad for an upgrade to retina display. This target dal isn't bad if you still have an iPad 1, or if you don't want to deal with Ebaying an Ipad 2.

Target should price match if you got a MC locally. You can still get the price match within 7 days of purchasing your iPad at Target.
