I stumbled across a stack of 200gb WD 8mb cache drives at Fry's... for $180 after rebates! I couldn't resist. Now I have 1/4 of a terabyte (280gb)!!

They're nice drives, we have one in our server.

There are three WD SE drives in my apt right now (2 1200JB's and one 2000JB).

My next drive will be one of WD's rumored 10K RPM 8 MB cache SATA drives.

If they actually are produced, of course.

I'm going to rip all my CDs to CCD files and use Virtual Daemon Manager to emulate CD drives.

I'll wait for the new 10000rpm WD

Did just install to 80g and a 160g 8mg WD drives so got 1.7 2. 7.6 9 20 45 60 60 80 80 160, about 525g, but with cd and dvd r it's not that relevant.

why is it that some SCSI drives are 10K and even 15K RPM while IDE is maxed at 7200?
