Ok...been a long time since I have re-built my computer....and I have started selecting my parts. I am looking to get the 200 Gb WD Special Edition hard drive....but I read somewhere that you have to have an interface card to take advantage of the full 200 Gb?

Is this true? Even with a brand new Motherboard (I am looking to get the new ASUS Mobo using the i875...the P4C800). Would the chipset on this board not be able to take advantage of the full 200 Gb? I hate using external interface cards....just seems like you are introducing more stuff for the data to have to go through.

The Retail version (WD2000JBRTL) comes with an ATA-100 PCI card (Promise Ultra100) that will allow 48bit LBA so your system can recognise the full drive volume.

i875...the P4C800

This should not have any issues whatsoever with this drive.

Right. So..I was curious if I HAD to use this card to be able to access all 200 Gbs of the hard drive. I would rather not...and hope I don't if I am using this ASUS Motherboard that *just* came out! Thanks for any info you guys can offer...or any persoanl experience!

[edit] - looks like you answered my question while I posted this reply! Thanks for the info!
