Amazon has the A70 for $200, which seems really cheap. I really don't have an interest in advanced photography, so I would like some manual features but nothing really extensive. Is there anything better in this price range without jumping up another 100 bucks or so?

Sounds good to me but Rossman is the expert, PM him.

it is a pretty good deal, I got the A70 for 200 also from amazon. But, if your willing to spend $15 more, I'd recommend getting the A75 cause your gonna wish you had a bigger LCD screen

We bought our first digital camera, an A70, about a year ago. Frankly we use it as the digital equivalent of an Instamatic-we want something we can point and shoot and get decent pictures. We've been more than happy with this camera. It has tons of features we will probably never use, but it is easy to use and takes very good pictures. I expect to be using it for many years.

If the other models have features you need or want, get them, but the A70 is a fine camera for most of us. You will need to get a bigger memory card (apparently all cameras ship with memory cards so small as to be essentially useless-the A70's original card holds either 8 or 11 pictures as I recall) and some rechargeable batteries.

The A70 is a good camera, I'd go with the A75, it was about $150 on some deal that's passed now. $200 should be possible for it. It's basically a A70 with more modes, a bigger LCD (1.8 vs 1.5"), better button layout....same size and weight. I have not verified but someone said it auto rotates the image if you take them vertically. They are identical sizes/

I was contemplating selling my A70 high at $150-175 on ebay and funding the difference for the A75.

I looked into the A70, A80 and G series when I bought my A70. The G I discounted right away as I may as well go real dSLR at that size level. The A80 didn't feel better to me and I doubted the longivity of the rotating screen in P&S situations like crowds, on rides, etc. I wanted a durable reliable camera that allows manual adjustment when you know the shot is not going to come out on auto.
