What should I get? I want it to be somewhat small but dont want to sacrifice TOO much quality of image.

is this doable?

Here's one at Gateway for $99 after rebates. Very small, and actually quite full featured for the price. To make the deal even sweeter, you can get an Epson printer/scanner and a pack of photo paper free after rebates if you buy that cam (or some others on the Gateway site) :D. The other cams are larger than the one I listed, but may fit your needs better. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Edit: Cam runs off of 2x AAA batteries, has 16MB internal memory w/SD memory upgrade slot, movie mode, and takes 1600x1200 pics. Also has a white balance feature.

I have a feeling you will soon become quite unhappy with the limitations of that gateway. It has a CMOS sensor while the respectable brands all use CCD sensors. It also has a fixed focus lens and only digital (low quality) zoom... I think you will be happier with something better like the Canon A60, Fuji FinePix 210, the HP (Pentax) 735 ($199. w/ a free 64MB SD card this coming week at Staples) or a similar Olympus model. All have focusing lenses and at least 3x optical zoom (best kind). You can find in-depth reviews of all the above on steves-digicams.com .

Epson CX3200 = $130
Gateway T23 Digicam = $130
Epson 4x6 100 pack photo paper = $15
Total = $275
-$30 MIR on printer
-$30 MIR on camera
-$15 MIR on paper
-$50 MIR from Epson when you buy any digicam with a printer
-$50 instant rebate from Gateway on the bundle
Total $175 in rebates

So, $275 for paper+printer+camera
-$175 in rebates
= $100 +tax total cost. Which is the price of the camera by itself :). Free shipping too!
Unfortunately, Gateway T23 camera is OOS at the moment, but should be in soon (I ordered it already)

Awesome deal!

EDIT: You can apply most of the other cams in their lineup to this deal as well, but they cost more. Depends what you want to spend, and what features you need.

Edit again: The T42 or T50 may be more what you're looking for. Those are both eligible for the free printer/scanner and paper deal as well :). Those models both offer optical zoom and a CCD as opposed to a CMOS sensor.

Looks like the deal is on until 12/31. Unless it takes 60+ days to arrive, you should be safe on the rebate.
