Deal is still alive, surprisingly. Just put in my order. I was on the fence for a long time between this and a 6870, but I'm not going to crossfire and I don't see anything else this powerful for $200. Should be a nice bump from my 4850 512mb! hehe

I just did the same upgrade. Went from my MSI 4850 512 to a new Sapphire 5870 which was hard to beat for $200. I was on the fence between that a 6870 and a 6950. With the 5870 being faster than the 6800 series and the 6950 around $80 more, I could not justify the extra money.

Gaming is much better now as I am finally able to play at 1920x1200 with AA and AF enabled.

I want to jump on this deal with the sapphire but the last 2 sapphire rebates I did.... never came through....so I will probably pass just because of that.

Well, even at $230 before rebate this is a pretty sweet deal. But yeah, rebates stink. I fought and fought for my EVGA rebate, and I think (crosses fingers) that they've finally approved it. Have to wait 10 weeks to find out! So much fun!

And the rebate for my OCZ SSD I bought in mid-October and approved Nov. 2nd? Should be here any day now...

Good to know! I had two 4850s in crossfire but they never scaled well and in some cases like BFBC2 they were worse than a single card. But the 5870 should be a substantial improvement either way.

OCZ is very good with their rebates and are easy to do.

Keep that rig alive, man! Nice upgrade.

But what's the deal with the date? The rebate says it's good through Jan. 31st: http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/Sapphire30MIRsNov1610Jan3111mc69.pdf

=) Funny story about that. In order to buy my new shiny 1080p projector, I had to promise my wife no significant upgrades other than the video card until 2013! Let's hope it continues to age well...

That's a new rebate - there was a rebate that went from early January through the 15th that I wanted to catch the bus on.

My msi 4890 blew after a year none in stock so msi sent me check for $170 the end of cf.
My evga blew 7900 a year later they sent me a 7950 again I lost sli.
What good is life time LFT Warranty when they no longer carry your card.
There are many posts here about evga RMAs they no longer make these cards so they are forced to patch the card which never works.
Got this 5870 for xmas and clocks 900 and 1300 also on the quiet side
I would love to buy 1 more for cf but when it blows a year latter the 5870 will no longer be sold and wil loose cf.
The worst time to buy Warranty wise is at the end of its life cycle.
