200 - 300 Euro update?

I NEED to upgrade from my FX5200. I only want to waste up to 300 euros, and if necessary, some more RAM.

System Specs.
2.66 GHZ Pentium 4
512 MB DDR RAM
FX 5200 128 MB

I plan on getting a 200 Euro card and more RAM or a 300 Euro card. I have no PCI-E. I play most games at 1024X768 (17" CRT Flatscreen monitor), not sure if I play with AA or AF (whatever they do...), I sometimes use programs that use quite a lot of your CPU (I mean having Photoshop 7, WMP, 3 internet link, MSN messenger and uncounted adware which I haven't been able to remove running at the same time) so would I need more RAM for that?

If I should go for a 200 Euro card, what are your reccomendations? I've read the thread "The Real Deal - If you want a gaming rig, spend 90% of your funds towards a videocard and not the cpu. " but I play quite a lot of RTS's, and now that I have fast internet I don't want my 8-player games lagging. I also often play BFV with 64 bots per side... I hate getting my butt kicked in MP...

Anyways, what are your choices? I don't think the FX series or any of the 9800's are worth it, as the PCI-E only cards will soon go AGP (6600 GT, X700, etc.). I also play quite a lot of FPS's, SC : PT, UT2K4, maybe Doom 3 soon... hehehe...

Please also give some links to "get started" (you probably noticed from the GREAT choice I made in "upgrading" from my old GeForce 4 MX 440, and the comments scattered around the post). I read that post that used to be stickied, "Modern Video Cards FAQ", but I lost myself in many parts.

Concluding, what would you reccomend, getting a 200 Euro video card and more RAM or getting a 300 Euro video card and no RAM? Which video card should I get in each case?

Thanks in advance to all of you.

right now the Ati 9800pro is the way to go.
and yeah you need more ram 512Mb more you will se a small boost in preformance lets say you are gettin 40fps in doom3 with 512mb more you will be getting 45 or so
and dont get the 128bit version of the 9800 only 256bit 128mb and 265mb on that card is almost the same

or if you can add a little more you can get the 6800Nu 128mb
