It only works on high resolutions and they give it a crappy shipping price (60 bucks) but the total is still only 239.
173+60=239

Cheapest 20" I have seen, but not for everybody

Well, its egghead. They always inflate their shipping cost. They tried to charge me $16 PER DIMM when I won an auction. Come on. Still, I think this could be a fine monitor for a mom or girlfriend. :)

I don't have the monitor posted, but I do have a 20" HP A2094A which uses a Sony Trinitron tube. Mine, also, is not multisync. It's a pain in the ass to get it to work. My suggestion is that, if you want to use it for work, they're great, but I wouldn't bother trying to use them for games. It's too much hassle trying to get them to work since many games will try to change the resolution and frequency.

This is only good if you're running a Sun system. I bought one before and even though it came with a video card that was supposedly gonna work with my pc, it sucked ass!
Don't buy this!!!!

I got an HP 4331A with is a sony trinitron multisync 20". Decent monitor for how much I got it for over a year ago...

I do have an auto scan monitor (hitachi hm4021)also at home.. no games because it wont do 60hz at lower resolutions. But it is still a high quality monitor for general usage and dvd watching.

you are probably better off with one of those 19" one with better refresh rate and dot pitch... and NEW, of course

This is a fixed frequency monitor. They're a pain to use because you can't change BIOS settings, use old DOS apps, play many games, install new video cards, etc.
I had 2 fixed frequency monitors, only got $39 for the one I sold on fleabay.

I just recently replaced my other one with a Samsung 955DF that I saw on this forum. It was well worth it.

If anyone wants a fixed frequency monitor, drop me a line. :)

<< Why did they make this POS? >>

It's actually a pretty good monitor, well built and high quality, but it SUCKS ON A PC.
The reason it's such a POS on a PC is because it's designed for Sun workstations. PC's are the only computers that use a 31.5kHz Horizontal and 60Hz Vertical as standard power-on sync rates. Everything else... Sun, NeXT, IBM RS/6000, even Macintosh power on with a higher resolution and higher sync rates. The PC's 31.5KHz/60Hz sync rates are a throwback to the original 640x480 VGA resolution.

So this monitor is cool on anything BUT a PC. Of course, PC's are pretty much the norm, so this monitor is pretty useless.

I dunno though, my radeon can force 120Hz at 640x480 and I usually play at 1024x768 anyway and this monitor only needs 75-100Hz and I never run at less than 75 anyway...

Maybe fleabay's 39 buck deal would be nicer though haha

i disagree, my sun monitor works pretty good on my PC w/ its propriety vid card. Video and text look great, and it uses a trinitron tube. I am somewhat limited in terms of flexibility and vid card upgrades.

With the prices of high quality large monitors so low these days, the 100 bucks your saving for an outdated monitor wont make much sense.

I have a 20" Cornerstone fixed frequency monitor that I played around with driven by a cheap trident 2d/3d pci card, in a dual set-up. The trick I used to get it to work was to use a windows video driver from a current monitor(a
rasterops 20" driver worked great), that had similar horizontal and vertical scanning frequencies. I had to rely on the main monitor to see the boot screen. It looks good, but the newer flat screens out there blow it away.

dunno if anyone noticed...
Signal Cable (included) 13w3-15 pin D-sub
if that's what I think it is you need a converter/adapter = another 15-35 dollars
