Is it safe for me to be running my 24 pin compatible mobo with just a 480W 20 pin PSU? I thought u had to have an adapter but i guess not huh? I also have a small 4 pin connector plugged in from my psu to a hole thats closer to my cpu. what is that and is it safe?

Did you already look at "the ultimate "do i need a 24pin PSU ?" thread" sticky in General Hardware?

I'm sure it will be fine with a good quality PSU @ 400W or higher... unless you are overclocking or running 2 vid cards.

I am running an MSI neo4 and ATI X800XL with Thermaltake 480W 20 pin and have no problems...
