20 pin power into a 24 pin?

Works fine. I ran a highly overclocked A64 for 2+ years on a 20pin psu. I am now using the same psu to power an E6400 at 3.2ghz

Today's mobos depend more on the +12V side - the connector arrangement is fine but if the power distribution in the 300W PSU is heavily weighted to the +5V side, it might not be adequate. But I've recently been running my system on my ancient Sparkle 250W backup PSU with only 13A on the +12. OTOH, since it is a modestly configured system it may be just fine. Try it - you'll learn soon enough if the +12 is inadequate.
