I did once with the LiteOn 16x DVD drive. Their web page said OOS, but it still let me place the order at the 20% off price. It took an extra month for the item to ship but that was ok with me at the time since I wasn't quite ready to use it. So if you don't need it right away, give it a try. The worse that can happen is that they say "no".

their 19" LCD looks nice.. much better spec than old 20" LCD
