Only the merchants listed at http://paypal.com/holiday are eligible for rebate. No Newegg, guys
That page is for the free shipping. The deal was, just use Paypal checkout wherever it's avaliable as per the first page of this thread.
If you successfully registered for promo, you will receive a confirmation email. No email = no luck.
AFAIK nobody got a confirmation email. I know I was signed up because I attempted to sign up again and got a pop-up box telling me I was already entered.
I'm not disputing your facts, but I do believe the PP Rep was telling the truth about "Knowing very little".
The 20.00 rebate wasn't a deal breaker for my purchase, but it will make me cranky if I don't get it.
Look at it this way, the rebate was a response to Google's checkout rebate and would create an awful amount of ill will if it wasn't worked as such. This doesn't mean they wouldn't do it, but I feel the chances are very slim.
I'm thinking the PP Rep. was buggered.

I signed up for this and got the popup saying I was registered. No e-mail though nor anything to point to if I buy something that qualifies and don't get the rebate. It would be strictly on faith -- with no recourse if Pay Pal doesn't come through. My one experience with Pay Pal in which I made a claim for a purchase where I was defrauded out of my money, they simply refused to consider it. I guess I put the likelihood of getting the $20 as about the same as getting a rebate from Tiger Direct.

Yeah, no confirmation from PayPal & no reply to an email I sent them so I don't expect any $20 off & won't be buying from merchants based on this...

Check your Profile tab on your Paypal account. Chances are you are opted out of receiving "promotions and third party" emails like me. This may be why some of us are not getting the email. I know I saw a screenshot of the email in one of the forums, so they do exist.

promotional incentives to customers who use the service on up to 100,000 merchant sites in North America.
If ya think 100,000 merchant sites doesn't include everywhere Paypal is accepted......I don't know what to tell ya.

Interesting... Newegg is no longer listed, however, Zipzoomfly is. Actually the list is veryveryveryvery small. 100,000 merchants.....? hmm dunno about that.

Surely Paypal is aware of this situation by now and is DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. I signed up for the rebate and there is no indication of anything in my Paypal acct and no e-mail sent. This has to be the phoniest offer I've come across in quite awhile....

STEP UP TO THE PLATE PAYPAL! FOLLOW THROUGH ON YOUR OFFER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Unfortunately, I missed out on the $20 promotion altogether, but I've been using PayPal for a while now & every now & then I have problems receiving their emails at my Yahoo Mail account. For some reason, every 6 months or so, my PayPal emails will magically be redirected to my Spam folder.

Make sure your PayPal emails aren't going into your Spam folders. If you were supposed to receive a confirmation email from PayPal when you registered, I'd be willing to bet there's a good chance you did & they were redirected to your Yahoo Mail (or possibly other mailbox's) Spam folder. It's happened to me 3 times now.

I am always leary of "trust us" which seems to be how this offer is.....pathetic....also the 8 week wait which in rebate terms can mean 6-8 months......

Paypal is certainly no Google.....
no chit. i didn't get an email confirmation either. so i guess i won't be using this. the $20 rebate and free shipping had me eyeing a few cases but i'm not risking it with some vague, poorly implented and confusing "offer" from paypal.

edit- not too mention newegg yanked their free shipping participation and zzf cases are $20 overpriced to begin with :p

Marulee,

WTF!?

You've posted a smiley something like 35 or so deals.

What are you doing, just trying to run up your post count? For what reason?

What's wrong with you?

Wish I'd checked for this thread earlier and had gotten in on this offering. I don't know why PayPal didn't email the offer to account holders (hmm... maybe I never read it if I had gotten one).

Best offering off that page now is for free shipping at select vendors.

So, why do you care? In effect, did you not do the same thing?

Oh yeah, :)

True. And the OP on this thread should kindly change the subject title to show DEAD, as this one is DEAD as to the discount/rebate

I've already received my $20 rebate, wasn't expecting it that quickly at all. Never got an e-mail about it or anything, just noticed it sitting there when I logged in today. If you signed up and made a qualifying purchase check your account, you may have gotten your rebate.
