From time to time I have seen this post regarding coupon posts not being allowed. Could someone explain why or provide me with a link to the explanation? Seems a bit foolish to me.

Anandtech does not allow Coupon codes as it is a way to protect anandtech from lawsuits. And yes most law suits would not win , but what it would cost to defend itself would probable be enought to close the site.
Better safe than sorry type thing.

Also the coupon does work just ordered some jeans, cost $20 shipped with coupon. $10 for the jeans and $10 for shipping and tax.

turns out to be $20 for some flannel-lined jeans. not so bad, but they don't ship for a month and when they do, i get charged ~$8 for S/H to send them at least 15mi from their warehouse here...lol

Any history on the past lawsuits? What was the law that was violated?
Just wondering how the coupon sites manage to avoid it, too-

MOst coupon sites are to small to go after, and to many. But it is not uncommon to go after one big site like anandtech to make a point to the other sites(i.e. set a example). Staples has already told Fatw*llet not to post coupon codes, so they don't, but they were able to allow the patrons to list coupon codes, just not the site.

Again it is one of those better safe than sorry type things.
