20" Monitor Questions

I'm thinking of getting a couple 20" WS monitors for the GF and I. A couple questions. I have a BFG Geforce 6800 OC video card. Will it support 1680x1050? I don't see it as an option when I go to display properties. Do I need the driver for the monitor installed before that resolution will show up?

Also, my GF's pc is using onboard video. Any suggestions for a cheap video card that will support 1680x1050?
 
You particular card supports resolutions up to 2048x1536 @ 85Hz.

I am not sure of the max resolution of onboard video but any graphics card you pick up can handle the LCDs resolution.
 
So is the reason the resolution doesnt show up is because I dont have the monitor driver? I do have the latest nvidia drivers (or close to it).
 
It doesn't show up because your current monitor doesn't support it. When you plug in the new LCD it will be an option.
