20 inch WS ... hmmm

So I've read the sticky about monitors, and there is a ton of useful information in there.
However I would love to hear from you guys about what monitor(s) you think take the cake.

I'm looking to upgrade my older LCD to a new 20 inch WS, and I've been looking at Samsung, NEC, Viewsonic, and Dell.

The NEC looks like a hell of a monitor, but teh price is a litle high and I hate that it's silver.. also glossy coating.. not a big fan.

What I really want is a really nice black monitor with good adjustabilty, response, color, and I will mainly be using it for gaming ( WoW, BF2, Call of Duty )

Recommendations?

The glossy coating will usually give you much better contrast and darker blacks.

If I was choosing, it'd be between the NEC (expensive option) and the Dell (cheap option).

Ya I've had a laptop with the gloss coat, and it's decent.. but reflections are annoying.
They have to be able to find a better way of deepening blacks w/o reflection.

I have a 23 inch from Apple too... and the contrast seems quite good.

There's no debate that the NEC one has the highest image quality, but it demands a premium for that. The ViewSonic VX2025WM sounds like the perfect one for you. The Dell 2005FPW isn't all that great, and the 2007WFP has some electronic problems causing banding and other anomalies. The Samsung 215TW is a tad slow for gaming but it does have higher contrast than the ViewSonic.

If you can afford it, get the NEC without a doubt. I own a Dell 2005FPW (and I'm happy with it), but I'm telling you there is no comparison between it and pretty much any other 20" WS LCD I've seen. All you have to about the glossy coating is to make sure that you don't have a bright light source behind you, which is much easier with a desktop system than a laptop.
