i can't find a store (any retail chain) that even lets me return something without a receipt anymore...

it's like someone pissed off all the managers at all New Jersey stores all at once 🙁
 
It probably has something to do with buying a cheap game at one store and "returning" it for credit at a store which sells the same game at a higher price that also has a loose return policy.

I missed the original, but since it's been changed, it was probably fraudulent in nature.
