20" Gaming Monitors = Dead?

Am I missing them, or has the 20" Gaming Monitor products disappeared? All the new gaming monitors in the last year seems to be 22". I was thinking about getting a 20" low-input-lag matte(not glossy) monitor, but i can't seem to find any 20"s that are considered good gaming anymore. The 20"s used to actually be the best widescreen gaming monitors (in terms of response/lag that is, I know not necessarily image quality). Unfortunately, due to both space and financial limitations, I cannot purchase those huge (to me anyway, since i have a 17" CRT) 22-24" monitors, like the BenQ G2400WD (which seems to be the top gaming monitor atm). It is not only about the price of the monitor, but the price of a computer needed to run that type of resolution (and as i said, space limitations as well). Any knowledge about a new round (or even a single release lol) of 20" gaming monitors?

Why not buy a 22 inch high quality gaming monitor? they are really inexpensive right now.
 
My space is limited, so I was looking for a good 20". In the end, I gave up and just went with the 22" LG L227WTG. It's a bit big for it's location, but it looks and works great. It also seems to be one of the smaller (slim and minimal bezel) 22" models out there.
 
You can't find a good gaming monitor in the 20" sector, period, but in the 22" sector it looks like there is only one (the L227WT), and no I am not looking at only the LCD Thread. Unfortunately, I would need a non-glossy screen, so L227WT is out of the question. It is beginning to look like either a 24"(the BenQ) now and find a way to make it work, or a 24" later (of course by then, i guess it will only by 30"s left 😛 )...lol.

Edit: Of course, i also have to think about viewing distance...could be problematic with a 24"

I sure wish there was a non-glossy version of that LG.
 
i think basically the panel makers decided this one. 22 and 20" wide screens have the same res, and so did 17 and 19" non wide screen and 17 and 19" widescreen.

but because most people would rather have a larger panel with same res (though less sharp) the economies of scale say to make the one most people want. and most people apparently wans 22" TN panels.

Single 24 isnt enough for me, need to dual up monitors.

no but seriously, dangers in dual monitor setups, once you start, you cant get rid. :\
 
22in Tn panels are cheaper. cheaper, bigger. two strong points when most uneducated people are shopping. why would they want to spend $$ on something smaller and more expensive? a lot of people, the average joe, dont know the difference between tn and s-ips for example. they just see something big and cheap, and go for it.

or.. at least thats what i figure.

 
Have you tried something like ebay? If you have a 20in model in mind and can't find it in stores I'd go for a used one.
