These 2 deals were posted separetely about 3 weeks ago by DeviousTrap and droppedd, but the combination of the two qualifies you now for free shipping from eCOST:

$10.00 Viking 64MB SM card
+
$15.00 Kingston 64MB SM card
+
$ 3.95 "processing fee"
+
$ 0.00 Free shipping until 07/29 (today) on orders of $25 and up.
----------------------------------------------------
$28.95 total out of pocket cost
-
$10.00 Viking rebate
-
$15.00 Kingston rebate
----------------------------------------------------
$ 3.95 2 x 64MB SmartMedia memory AR shipped

The rebates are valid until 07/31/2003 and must be mailed by 08/12-08/15. The free shipping is good today only.

I have never bought from Ecost, but this deal sounds interesting.

Originally I thought it was a free after rebate deal. As it was pointed out by other members, there is a "processing fee" which is #3.95 on a $25 order. However, if you are in a need of SmartMedia card, it might still be worth it.

The Kingston card is now $15.99.

That "Handling & Processing" fee kills the deal for me. Thanks for pointing it out though!

That handling fee is BS. It seems sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't. Sometimes it's $3.95 and sometimes it's $6.95. Maybe it's seasonal or it depends on the type of deal you're getting.

I updated the thread to include the almost deal-killing processing fee. Has anybody ordered the items to confirm that the fee is actually charged?

Actually, the Kingston rebate allows two units per sumission, so you could get three cards and still have only the $3.95 processing fee. Of course, complaining about $3.95 for two 64MB cards, including shipping, is - perhaps - a bit overboard. Maybe three for $3.95 make it worthwhile?

Amazingly, I've already gotten a notification that the Viking rebate is valid via email from my July 3rd purchase - and it's a New Rochelle rebate.

Yes, they do charge the processing fee.

<edit - dang, I just can't type straight today>

eCost limits your order to only 1 Kingston card per purchase so you are stuck w/ picking up one of each (assuming they are still available). I went ahead and jumped on the deal. I figure $2 per card AR isn't too bad (I was charged $3.95 for 'processing' but no tax). Extra space for songs in my Nomad II C player (earlier deal).
