2 x 256mb @ CAS2 or 1 x 512mb @ CAS3?

Just curious.... I seem to recall reading that the single 512mb card is advantageous to two 256mb cards, but is this true even if the 256mb cards are CAS2 and the 512 is CAS3? Also, does DDR memory "work" the same as SDR in this regard? (ie is there a difference in the timings among the DDR boards the way there is with SDR?)

Thanks.... My learning experience continues....

I never heard that, plus I don't think there are any PC2100 512MB DIMM's out yet. anyway, I'd get 2x 256MB CL2 PC2100 DIMM's.

Yeah, I would get the 2X256 Mb cas 2 PC2100. They are a lot more common and cost less and the lower cas latency should make up for any loss in performance from 1 stick instead of 2.

Absolutely stick with CAS2/CL2. But, keep in mind that the fsb may need to be reduced slightly when using multiple sticks. This is not enough to justify going to CAS3/CL3, though.
