This is driving me mad. Here's the setup: AT&T DSL with a Linksys WRT110 router. Guy forgot his router login password, so I reset it and set the router back up. He has 2 wireless pc's connecting to it, an HP laptop with Windows 7 and an HP touch screen AIO in with Windows 7 on it. If I set the router to WEP, the laptop connects, but the touch screen will not. I tried everything and it just gives me an error with no reasoning. I only tried WEP because when I try WPA or WPA2 personal. The internet works fine until 1 of the 2 PC's is turned on. As soon as Windows boots up the internet goes completely down. The 1st few times it happened I thought it was a coincident.
But I've duplicated it about 10 times. I'll run a ping -500 on Google and watch it ping Google 450 times without a dropped packet. I open the laptop and the second it comes out of standby mode *BOOM* internet's completely down. Doesn't even work on the hardwired PC. I have reset the router 4 times, and every time it's doing the same thing. Once I shut down the wireless PC that's connected, after maybe 4 minutes it cycles back and it won't drop another packet. Connect again, same thing. I did leave it connected for about 15 minutes thinking it would work itself out. But it didn't help.
Never seen this before, neither PC has a virus, one Windows 7 was just installed last week. Any ideas what could be causing this? Before resetting the router his internet/network worked fine with both wireless pc's connected. I'm out of ideas here/
