2 Windows NT questions (NT based OSes)

I'm curious:

1. Why don't NT based OSes have symbolic links? Or do they?
2. Do NT based OSes still differenciate between binary and ascii files?

Sorry for the questions, I'm just curious. These used to be gripes of a friend of mine back in the day.

1) Windows 2000 and later do. Search the KB on "hard links" (Actually, it's a feature of NTFS5 that's part of Win2K.)
2) No.
