Any recommendations? Suggestions?

I personally spent a week in Barcelona and Ibiza in 2002. We are probably leaning towards the Basque region...San Sebastian, Bilbao, etc.

Really depends on what you like to do. We are older, and enjoy the true history, and flavor of Spain which, (IMO) can only be experienced in the south, Andalucia, Costa Del Sol.

We take Air France out of Dulles to Paris, and then a quick flight down to
Malaga. A short taxi ride to Hertz car rental in Marbella, and drive to our time-share in Elviria which has a large population of Brits. Even has a local radio station.

Granada, Seville, Ronda, Gibraltar, Mijas, etc are all a day trip from there.
The resort has a restaurant, and bar with live music. Across the street is an English pub, and grocery store. Down on the beach, (a short walk) is another bar, and restaurant.
Could probably make you a deal with renting, wife and I have 8 weeks a
year, and with enough notice can book almost anywhere in the world.

This. There's a lot of worthwhile stuff in the south of Spain. The Alhambra was pretty cool.

Theres a few bars on the other side of the valley from the Alhambra where you can sit as the sun goes down with the Sierra Nevadas in the distance behind the palace.

Its pretty awesome.

We are actually a little weary of the August heat in the south of Spain. We are looking at a few days in Barcelona followed by Mallorca. We like German tourists!

Meh, Spain's always been broke. Its not long ago they were living under a dictator.

Dont be such a wussy, go out and enjoy the world.
