I saw the Fry's add Midland 2 Way Radios with 7 Miles range 22 Chs, 2-watts, Scan, Water resistant. 3 Yrs warr. $24.99 - $10 = $14.99

I do not mean to trash your posting but that 7 mile range from 2 watt units is under the absolute best of conditions meaning straight line, tall antenna, no obstructions.

It is not unusual for a 5 watt radio to have problems with hills and obstructions at only 2-3 miles.

Just don't want anyone to be unhappy.

Still, these go much farther than the old cheapo units we all used to use.
