2 Vid Cards: 2 Different Res'?

I wanna get another (cheap) vid card w/ tv-out so I can watch DVDs on my tv... My question is can I have it so that my GF3 with monitor stays at 1280x1024, while the 2nd vid card outputs to my tv at 800x600? Win2k
thx

With two video cards, you may have each at different resolutions, however it sounds like you are trying to display the same thing on both monitors? Built in dual monitor support in Win98 allowed the two monitors to function as if they were one (ie drag something off of the edge of one monitor and it appears on the other...

I'm afraid Win2000 can not do this.

I have a single video card with dual outputs and I can't even set them independantly.

Under Win98 you can, and AFIAK under WinXP it is also possible. Unfortunately Win2000 is not.
The two displays need to be the same res.

with two separate video cards, its not a problem, I've done it myself.
also, the matrox dualhead cards can do different resolutions on each monitor.

I'm not sure if your plan will work. I have two video cards right now running dual monitors, a Geforce3 and a 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 PCI. When I use PowerDVD to watch movies on my primary adapter, the Geforce3, everything works like normal, but if I try to drag the video window to my Voodoo3 adapter/monitor, then window just goes black. This leads me to believe that you may not get DVD video out of your secondary adapter either. I think it just has something to do with which card you set as your primary graphics adapter. Then again, I could be completely wrong, and your idea may work flawlessly.

Edit
Wait, do you want to run the setup kind of like a dual monitor setup where you can drag windows from one display to the other, or do you just want to have the displays mirror eachother. Also, does it really matter what resolution the second adapter is set at since you're planning on outputting to a tv, and tvs only display a resolution of 640x480?.....unless of course you have an HDTV.

i want the displays to mirror each other, and tv's (at least mine) display at 800x600
