2 U.S. jets missing over Scotland

Got this news from CNN. Seems like 2 US jets are missing after a training exercise. Hope they find the pilots.

At least since they are fighters there is a good chance the pilots survived if the planes in fact crashed. I was a bit surprised to see that these were F-15s - in recent years it has been the F-16s that have had a dreadful reliability record and many crashes.

What is going on with our military lately? It seems over the last month or so there has been accident after accident.

Here's the CNN article

FoxNews said that the jets were on a low level test flying mission in the Scottish Highlands. I guess there's a few reports of vacationers hearing an explosion. That's sad :(

i read it on reuter news this morning...i'm like, how the hell does two jets become missing? is it spoof, no more or wat?

Just on the curiosity side.
How can they lose 2 of the best fighter planes in the world, and 4 pilots? There should be some kind of radio transmission for help, because it is very unlikely that both planes losses communication instantaneously if there were a collision.
