2 sticks of ram lower my oc?

I was using 1 stick of 256mb and can run my 1.6a @ 2.4 at default voltages with 3:4 ratio. But now I put in another stick of 256mb and can't do 2.4 at 1:1 ratio. I memtested and it passed all 11 tests, so it should be able to?

Every additional piece of HW, especially memory will lower the OC'ing possibility (since this is affecting the whole system, not only the processor). However, both of your RAMs are probably perfectly OK, but will have problems running simultaneously. If using two sticks they should definitely be from the same producer and type (if you wanna get highest level of stability).

damn I ran memtest again overnight at 150 fsb 1:1, it ran 6 passes and got 12 errors....

I'm using IT7 Max2 V2 and 2 sticks of geil pc2700 ultra. The sticks can do 400+ ddr with relaxed timings and default voltages but can't even do 300 ddr together....damn looks like I have to get new ram or raise voltage.

Try memtesting the single stick of new ram

hmmm....often if you have 2 sticks you need to raise vdimm....raise it to 2.7 if you can
