I wish to utilize two wireless routers instead of route cables around my house. The current wireless setup (aka 1 router, 1 modem) is in the living room, I wish to extend this signal into an office and utilize the router in that office more like a switch (just one that is not physically connected...) I want the two routers to talk wirelessly to each other but I also wish to be able to utilize the physical LAN ports on the one in the office to plugin network printers, Desktop PC, etc...
So here is the situation:
Current setup utilizing 1 router/ 1 modem is a surfboard modem and a Belkin N600 HD Wireless Router
running Tomato Shibby Firmware. Both 2.4Ghz and 5.0 Ghz are setup and broadcast on this router with Wireless Security as follows - WPA2-Personal AES (5.0 GHZ) & WPA-Personal AES (2.4 GHZ) *My laptop doesn't support WPA2*
I would like some assistance in figuring out how I could possibly utilize my secondary router (Netgear) in the office to connect to this Belkin router and sort of perform as a repeater/switch on the network..
I read the manual and see that the netgear has something called WDS (page 93 of manual) but it states that encryption needs to be either Off or WEP - I would like to keep security and have failed to get this to work.. I am assuming that if i input the MAC as directed that alone limits device accessibility which I am okay with as security but still I cannot get this setup right...
Any help anyone could lend is greatly appreciated, Ill be monitoring this thread often within the next couple days so I should be able to reply rather quickly..
Thanks!
