Hi guys,

I've been trying to make my RAM run at its rated speed (3000 mhz) in my new PC.

I have a:

Aorus B450 Elite mobo
AMD Ryzen 2600 CPU

Memory model is GeIL Super Luce RGB Sync 16 GB (8 GB x 2) DDR4 3000 (GLS416GB3000C16ADC)

I know DDR4 default speed is 2133 mhz, and so far I have managed to enable XMP profile to run at 2400 mhz.

However, whenever I change the multiplier to anything about that like 26.67 or 29.33 (which my mobo can handle) the PC does a cold boot twice, boots fine the third time but runs back at default 2133 mhz.

Have attached some images of my BIOS settings. What I have noticed is that in one setting, enabling profile 1 sees my "Profile DDR Voltage" go to 1.35v.

However in another setting, which I think is "Advanced Voltage Settings", DRAM Voltage (CH A/B) is also auto but reads 1.20v

Do I need to also change it to 1.35 V to match the profile DDR voltage setting? Or is it something completely different?

I'm not so good with messing around in the BIOS, so I haven't really been changing anything apart from the system memory multiplier itself.

Thanks for your help.

WARNING IM NO EXPERT IN THIS AREA

With that said I believe the typical voltage for ddr4 ram is 1.35

Nominal JEDEC (standards body) DDR4 RAM, is specified at 1.20V. Most XMP (overclocked) RAM is 1.35V (generally considered safe).

Some boards, if you set XMP, and select the Profile, then the BIOS/UEFI will also set the memory clock (may be listed as half the rated speed on the package, since it is DDR), and the memory voltage (1.35V).

If the BIOS reports your memory voltage is at 1.20V, then you may have to change it manually, and your RAM may act flaky / not want to boot unless you change it, if you've set XMP or changed the RAM clock speed from DDR4-2133, the JEDEC baseline speed. (That all DDR4 desktop RAM should be able to run at, at 1.20V.)
