2 Quick Questions

1. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe with AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and 1.5gb (3 512 sticks) of Crucial PC2700 ram. Can I run the ram at 333mhz and the FSB at 266 since the XP2000 cant run at 333? I remember reading reports indicating that you could but that the best performance was gained having the FSB and the memory running at the same speed.

2. My understanding about the NForce 2 chip set is that it allows you to utilize Dual DDR. However I often find that Dual DDR is mentioned as Dual DDR 400. Can I only taken advantege of Dual DDR by using PC3200 ram or can any DDR speed ram utilize dual DDR?

Thanks.

1. Unless this board is for some reason different than others you should get the best performance from running at 333mhz. If you wanted, you could overclock the processor to run at 333mhz FSB.

2. You can use dual DDR at lower speeds.

And the best way to figure all of this out is to play around with various settings and run benchmarks.

1) running the RAM at the same speed as the FSB is better
2)yes you can run it at lower speeds

1) Synced CPU bus and RAM speeds are best.
2) Dual Channel DDR mode can work without needing PC3200. It just needs at least 2 sticks of RAM, and they usually will go in slots 1 and 3 (Bank 0 and 1).
