My vid card is a 5700 Ultra, 128mb. Ok, I noticed on my Half Life 2 settings, the DirectX Hardware is at 8.1. I used the force to 9.0 command in the console expecting my card could handle it, and it was supposed to be that way. But when I did this my FPS lowered dramatically, so I was forced to change it back. What's the deal with this? And isn't my card supposed to handle DirectX 9.0 hardware?

Ok and a somewhat related question. If I overclocked my video card would I notice much of a difference? My GPU core temp is at 30 degrees C and I'm guessing that leaves alot of room to OC. What utility should I use to overclock? And what should I beware of?

Thanks!

your video card is not DX 9 certified. HL2 kicks off the game to DX 8 because it recognizes this. That you were forced to enter a console command tells me that you had perhaps some knowledge of this? I'll assume not, but, yea your card is going to run DX 9 very poorly.
