2 Questions - UT2K4 - Onslaught

When I go into on online game I have red selected as my favorite team.
I join red. All of the Power Cores come up as red except the blue home core.
This is true whether the core is not controlled by anyone or controlled by blue.
So I go to a red base to get ammo or a ride and as I get closer I see it's vacant or controlled by blue.
I've lowered my video settings in the game and have the latest patch.
It worked normally in the past but we moved a year ago and instead of cable I am now on dial up for gaming. I have satellite but it sucks for gaming.


If I start a server on my satellite connection, will the ping suck for those joining?
Will mine still suck or I am I good to go as far as ping?

It sounds as if you're not getting updated from the server fast enough due to your dial up connection. That's why you're seeing all same color nodes even though your team doesn't control them. From what I understand, the netcode prioritizes what gets sent and that type of info is probably not high up in the chain, so you're losing some info.

As for satellite, yeah, I'd say the latency would probably suck for anyone joining.
