I posted a message earlier but I think it was too general.

Basically I'm trying to decide on getting either a "oem" radeon 8500 or gf3 ti200 both are around $150 -170 and just fit my budget. Fps

in games is important but not the deciding factor since both these cards will handle any game currently. What is deciding it is fullscreen

video playback and tv out quality. My "r.i.p." msi gf2 pro did very well in games but I to do a lot of tweaking to get video playback

decent.

And the tv out was decent except for a slow interference bar that started at bottom of the screen and crawled to the top. I tried

everything I knew to get rid of this but no dice.

So which one

of these cards is going to give me the best video playback and tv out quality? Fps in games doesn't have much bearing since these are

higher end cards and won't be challenged for some time. Any first hand advice would be greatly appreciated.

thx

I never had experience with the Nshidia tv out, but I would go radeon. It may be clocked slower, but the quality is for sure going to spank the hell out of anything else. Maybe you could get a OEM with the 3.6ns on it and clock it up via power strip. Your going to be looking at it playing games and typing, treat your eyes well, only pair you get. I am getting a retail on monday man! I am so excited. I like quality over speed.

Since you want video playback, a Radeon 8500 OEM sounds like your best bet.

Thanks for the replies guys, I was leaning toward the radeon but just had to make sure, saw some other replies saying it's video was

crap though I didn't believe this, had to make sure. Been using my faithful voodoo 3 this last week since my gf2 went down. Though the

graphics aren't even close to today's cards it still amazes me. Everything runs so smooth, no errors, no bleeps from soundcard, etc. using

winxp an os that wasn't even a thought when these were produced yet it runs great. Wish all the cards now could have the

compatability these cards had. But I guess with the competition to have the fastest card on the market sacrifices must be made.
