My first question, If you were to be reciveing a internet connection from your house to your pc, but then had a wireless connection let say from your neighboor, which connection would work, or would they both work at once?
-----------------------------------------------------
Second question, Why dont they make a router with a built in modem?

This Control Panel shows the order in which network services will access your connections:
/Network Connections/Advanced/Advanced Settings/Adapters and Bindings/Connections

Your Internet Connection will be attempted on the highest-order connection first. So put your WiFi adapter lower than your wired adapter if you prefer to use your wired adapter.

No, it won't use both at once.

Because the people making routers have no idea if you will be using cable or DSL or dial-up. Even within cable and DSL there are different standards.
The router companies would need a dozen different models just to do one thing.
Its easier to have a WAN port. RJ-45 is a little more universal. Yes its sucks that you have to rent or buy a modem at inflated prices from the ISP, but if you dig around online you can usually find a replacement for much cheaper.

There are DSL (and probably Cable) modem/routers. Actiontec makes them, for instance.
