Newegg shipped me the P4C800-E DELUXE-UAY. The UAY is a cheaper version of this board that does NOT contain the ICH5R chipset. It contains the ICH5 chipset and a Promise RAID controller.
I can understand why Newegg is confused. ASUS is shipping the
P4C800-E DELUXE UAY in the same box used for the P4C800-E DELUXE,
a box with ICH5R in bold letters on the top of the box!
The only indication that the MB inside is not what is marked on the box was the P4C800-E DELUXE-UAY part number printed over the bar code on the side of the box.
If you think you bought the P4C800-E Deluxe you might want to
check the part number on the side of the MB box. You might not
have what you think you do.
This guy is an idiot. His board has the ICH5R, he just can't find it and is confused because the board also has a Promise RAID controller. Ignore him.
actually I also think hes an idiot and plan to post a reply to his review later today
but I just had to find out what does UAI really mean
D
PS by the way you got one of these too right ? do you use the promise raid or the intel one ?
got a question, what kind of modes do they have and how to setup ? looking to use JBOD with the promise and raid 0 with the sata intel (later on, dont have sata drives yet

)
You have to enable the Intel RAID in the BIOS. Both the Intel and Promise RAID controllers are quite standard and easy to set up. It's pretty intuitive. The manual explains it all.
I'm using the Intel RAID controller with 2 Raptors and love it. They bench VERY well with impressive scores and are snappier than any non-SCSI drive system I've ever seen.
Hi
thing is I worked with a couple scsi raid cards (I actually have a dual 550 with a scsi raid array) so I know how it goes, but I cant find the raid configurator on this board (promise raid is on in bios)
Thanks
Dan
To see the Promise BIOS and setup prompt during boot you have to go to Advanced>Onboard Device Config in the BIOS and set the Promise controller to enabled and RAID. Also, make sure the Promise controller is set as the second boot device after the CD-ROM in the BIOS
Then, when booting, wait until just after the mobo BIOS posts and you will see the Promise BIOS post with a prompt to hit Ctrl-F to enter setup.
Make sure you have a floppy with the Promise RAID controller drivers on it. XP will ask for it when the CD starts installing the OS. If you don't hit F6 when the XP setup prompts for RAID or SCSI drivers, it will not see the array.
