I have an ASUS P5KC MB. I installed 4 GB of DDR2-800 RAM along with an Intel 4300 CPU. I am playing with different OC options and want to see the benefits of SYCN or ASYNC in memory access. I also want to measure affect of lower latency.
With the FSB set to 267 and Mult of 9, I get 2.4 Ghz, but with RAM at DDR2-800 I get ratio of 2:3. I reduced RAM to 667, getting the ration to 4:5 and lowed the latency.
I reset FSB to 400 and multi of 4 giving me the same 2.4 Ghz. Now the ratio is 1:1, BUT in CPU-Z it shows the ram still in ASYNC mode.
1. Is that something I can do to force it into SYNC mode? Or, is CPU-Z mis-reporting?
2. Is there a (free) benchmark that I can use to test memory throughput?
