when using windows xp:

first problem: the computer will not boot the first time we power it on. we have to reboot it for it to start.
second problem: the computer will randomly reboot for no apparent reason. also get a lot of error messages

this problems rarely if ever occur when using win2k. anybody know what the problem might be?

yeah it could be a virus but if he cant get the computer to boot or even turn the first time and it does the second, it has to be a hardware issue. your problems could be one of these: incorrect cpu speed set in the bios, bad ram, bad power supply or overheating.

if you wanna check out the ram and see if thats on the fritz download this or this . ive used both before and found ram errors.
