Is it real?

The reason I ask is I could have sworn there was a plane that just crashed where all the skydivers died and this seems kinda like a mockery of that.

My first reaction to that is awesome... particularly the landing at the end. But that could just be the pilot in me because that video proves planes don't just fall out of the sky if something goes wrong like a lot of people seem to think... unless of course they lose an entire wing. ;)
No doubt that video will be shown in flight schools around the country for a while.

Well, if you're going to be in a plane accident, having a cabin full of skydivers really increases the chances of survival.

I'm sure there was that one guy that had last minute jitters. He said, "There's no way I'm going to jump out of a perfectly good airpla........ohh shit, scratch that!"

What I find amazing is that there was an extra chute for the pilot! I mean, you take 10 guys up, with one pilot, I think you only expect to use 10 chutes. The pilot can't normally jump out and expect the plane to land by itself.

I still don't understand how 2 small planes manage to collide with a big open airspace. It's not like you can't see that coming from 10 miles away. The planes are not as clumsy as big 737s and they have a lot more "wiggle" room, so to speak.

Pilots should always be looking for other air traffic and maintain a visual on all aircraft in their area. I think this guy was distracted and/or just didn't notice the other aircraft coming up from below him and to his right. Although, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to see from his vantage point and the other aircraft would have had an equally difficult time seeing the plane above and behind to the pilot's left. The wing would probably make it impossible for him to have seen the other plane.

In either case, they both should have been aware that there was another aircraft in the area and had identified it visually long before they got that close.

Its easier to hit other planes than you think.

One, you are moving very fast compared to a land vehicle. If you think cars come from out of nowhere...

Two, you may have a big open sky but you don't just fly around wherever you want, there are flight paths and radio way points like well traveled roads in the sky, esp in heavily controlled air space near cities.

I mean all that open land, could never have accidents if we didn't drive on streets :)

They were part of the same group jump.

It was an emergency chute.
