2 piece speakers (no sub) recommendations?

anyone using regular two piece speakers without a sub? my dad has been bugging me about getting speakers. he doesn't have room for a sub, and it's like every speaker i see is usually 2.1... that is... unless i get pretty cheapy speakers. anything out there that is decent?

Not really, at least not something I would want to listen too. If you want decent sound on your computer your going to have to go with a sat./sub. combination. In order to get decent sound out computer speakers without a sub, you would need a 2-way setup with at least a 5" driver, which just isn't practical on your desktop. Not to mention the fact that you would have to put the power supply and amps in there as well.

I found $30 Z340 is pretty good, but does has a pretty big sub! (nice foot massager for me when playing music though)

yeah i saw the $30 z340's 🙂 but unfortunately... i am pretty firm on the no sub requirement. this if for my dad... just just wants prolly something to listen to some songs or sound samples on the net. not looking for something for gaming or extensive mp3 playback. doesn't anyone out there have a recommendation for a set of speakers w/o a sub?

what about those small Altec Lansings... theyre pretty small... i'm sure theyre pretty cheap too... i'd have to say that must feel quite weak... keeping in mind that there's no sub. :Q

These Altec's look pretty decent. I haven?t used this exact set before but I have used an older similar model, prolly the exact same drivers. I did play some MP3's through them just to see, and they didn't sound too bad. I would go with these Altec doesn?t make crap, their quality shows in every product the make.

Try these Altec Lansings.
They are rather big put packs some decent power (15w RMS x 2) plus the drivers are 2-way.
