Ok.. here's my dilemma:

I have a wireless network. I have 2 machines in another room...only one has a wireless nic (win98). But, i'm building a Linux box and I'd like that machine to have access to the network and the internet.

Can I put in another NIC in the Win98 machine and somehow bridge connections so my Linux box and get on the network?

Why not just put a NIC in the Linux box??? Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

I've heard nightmares about configuring wireless NICs with Linux. Plus, I don't have another wireless NIC and I have several standard NIC's. I'd just like to bridge the LAN connection in the Linux box so it'll see the NIC in the Win98 machine as a network connection.

How would I configure the card in the Win98 machine to do that?

WinXP Pro can Bridge. Win98SE can use ICS (software NAT).

You should explain better where and what type of Internet connection you have, and how the topology should look like.

There are hardware solutions for less than $20 that can easily and efficiently solve problems like this.

Ok... here's my setup.

DSL hooked to Linksys Wireless B Router... one machine plugs directly into the router. One laptop has built in wireless. Another laptop has a wireless NIC in it. And I have the Linux machine. The laptop with the wireless card and the Linux machine will be in the same room. Would I'd like to do is to put in another NIC in the the laptop with the wireless card and be able to share the network connection between the laptop and Linux.

I think it can be done, if the second computer has Win98 you need to create a second routing and use ICS.

I know that a Linux computer can be configured as an ICS Client with WinXP, I do not know about Win98.
