Can i setup them up to peer to peer wireless setup without a router in between just by using the same security key on both computers?

My current wireless setup is like this where theres only 2 computers setup to share internet only if the main computer is on. However, its the 1st wireless technology that came out and very slow. I want to buy 2 new cards from bestbuy and just setup with no router. IS this still possible.

thanks.

-Doesnt want a router at all.
-My main cmputer needs to serves.
-I will not connect my main computer through a router
-Can i still can wireless peer to peer by just using the same security code on both computers.

No, it is wireless. =] It cleared up in the main post now. sorry.

"I dont want a wired connection because its to constant with its data rate. I use my current wireless because the other computer doesnt need a full speed internet connection or else it might be abused by slowing down the main computers internet.

Heres the card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...dpNo=783131&CatId=2697

My current wirless setup is perfect. It only lets the other computer download @ 30-40KB which doesnt max my cable connection. However upload it maxes, but it doesnt upload everyday. I know upgrading to a new wireless technogly might start to max my connection on download. However, my old wirless card freezes up vista and now xp on my new motherboard, so i just going to buy a new wireless setup.

I am not sure that I totally understand you logic of you topology, and it does not sound very convincing.

However you can use two wired NICs and control the second computer with this software.

Thanks, i got everything working again. Its running @ 11.0mbps which is perfect for the emailing and surfing the web. I had to run the cards in something called, "Ad Hoc" mode. Got the wep setup and everytihng is well.

Only problem its still to fast for my liking. Its giving the other computer bascially all the cable modem power. Im able to download @ 350KB over the wireless and the old network card barely hit 50KB lol. So damn it guess ill give net limiter a look.
