Bump :D

Why hasn't this thread generated more replies? I'd think more people would be interested in the 8500DV. Yes, it is a bit pricey at an MSRP of $399 ($599 for you canucks), but that's only $100 more than the retail for the regular 8500. I'm a bit disappointed in the lower clocks (230 core, 190 memory) but it looks like ATI might have it right this time. The 'transparent tv' feature looks to be killer, XP is fully supported, full PVR (tivo-like), kick-ass RF remote, and (what appears to be) some nice software bundled along. It remains to be seen, of course, whether Multimedia Center 7.5 is all it is cracked up to be, but what I've seen is quite positive. I've been waiting on this product since announcement ... :D

looks like ATI got it right this time around. Hopefully we'll be able to oc the mem up a little more since it seems a little slow at 190.

Well, let's face it. You aren't going to drop $350-$400 on the DV if you're a gamer and don't use the features. You'd get the 8500. The DV will provide pretty superb 3D Gaming speeds in addition to the plethora of VIVO stuff. I'd imagine there will be a bit of headroom for overclocking, but that isn't my concern with these cards. :)

The TV features and TV on demand look fantastic along with everything else.

I wonder though, will it work with a satellite signal or just analog TV and cable?

The tuner works with antenna/cable only. It isn't a DSS tuner :)

It is looking better by the second. I'm anxious to start recording! :)
