Do these really need six AAA batteries in each handset? The web page offers some "related items" and suggests that you add AA batteries to your order.

actually thats a typo from Rat Shack.. they only require "3" AAA batteries.
These handhelds are small, so there's no way you can put 6 batteries.. maybe the site meant
"6 batteries per pair"


but i can confirm that they only use 3 AAA's


good thing i got like 20 rechargables AAA's

BTW- When you get the sales receipt, the rebate shows up with it for $20.00 money back..

I wanted each pack rung up separately, so that I could get the rebates. The salesperson was like "If you do that, I dont get as high a commission." My response: "deal with it"

Question: the rebate from that prints out from the cash register doesn't mention sending the UPC but the form linked in the first post calls for it. Anyone familiar enough with RadioShack rebates to know if we actually need to send the UPC?

I work in a Radio Shack in San Jose, there's about 250 of these FRS in our district, with the current rebate they'll go out pretty quickly. The rebate form doesn't ask for original UPC, I would still consider sending it though, because it might be a typo.

Confirmed in Knoxville, TN!!! $10.31 with tax and a $20.00 rebate printed at the register!!! At first he said the radios were $20.00 with a $10.00 rebate so I asked him to go ahead and ring em up. hahaha HE was amazed. Not only free but you get and extra $10.00 for some batteries!!

The manager that rang up the radios sounded like he was going to buy the 3 left.

I sent both of mine today using the printed receipts along with the UPC's... just in case.

I'd also had the sales guy ring them up separate to get 2 rebates accordingly..
