2 or 4 sticks of RAM?

I am getting a new system, Asrock OC Formula board with 3770K cpu. I was about to buy 32GB of ram but I'm not absolutely sure about that anymore.

If I go for 16GB, is it wiser to buy 2 or 4 sticks? The computer is used for websurfing, office applications and occasional gaming. Will most likely overclock sometimes, but will not run overclocked for long periods of time.

Two possible options:

Makes no sense to buy 4 DIMMs when 2 DIMMS with same capacity cost the same. Plus you mention 32GB as well.

Would there be any benefit in using 4 sticks? For example, are 4GB sticks less error prone because they have been around for a longer time?

actually 4 dimms would be more error prone than 2. with more of anything (unless it's for redundancy sake, which desktop memory isn't) you will have a a larger chance of one of the sticks going bad.

4 will be twice as likely for 1 to go bad as 2.
