I'm fond of it. de Blasio threw the Police force under the bus by telling the world that he essentially told his son that he needed to be suspicious of the Police. He doesn't support them. He gave them a big public "fuck you" and they gave it right back to him. He deserved it. Should they have thanked him?

I hope for his sake he's found some thick skinned cops to keep guard over him and his family. They could just turn and face the wrong direction sometime.

Was it purposeful or is he just that plain stupid? IMO he thought it best to stoke the fires.

Anyway, the thread isn't about de Blasio.

And that right there is why people think cops are corrupt. To serve and protect only those who toe the blue line.

Walking up and blowing away two police officers who are doing nothing is unacceptable, period! I don't give a shit what the cop haters in this thread think.

But what percentage of police stops are they before this year?

Oops.

The story dated 2013 so the data should be 2013 or earlier and not this year (2014). My point was it was NOT "proportionally greater than" as you claimed. When you have 65% of violent crime perps came from a certain group and 56% of stops were done on that said group, that was not "proportionally greater than". That's how I see it from the story/data of the link that I posted.

There are no problems without solutions.

What's your solution?

I posted that in a different thread already, but it's pretty simple.

Every state should have a special DA and a small staff whose sole job is to prosecute cops. Judges for those cases should be randomly chosen. The DA's performance should be gauged by how many convictions they get, same as for normal DA's.

Laws need to be passed that make it a crime for a Police Union to interfere or in any way engage in or question investigations into police misconduct / crimes.

Any police officer that kills someone who it was found was not armed and did not pose a clear deadly threat, should be fired and not be allowed to act as an officer in any force. Fault doesn't matter. They aren't there to protect themselves, they're there to protect the citizens - and killing a citizen should be viewed as the worst kind of failure for that 'profession'. Same thing goes for other professions, a civil engineer that designs a bridge which collapses is done for professionally - should be the same way for cops.

Here's a collection of police tee-shirts. Says something about the cops :

Some quotes :

-- "Save the police time, beat yourself up"

-- "An ounce of prevention is fine and dandy........ But we prefer 168 grains of cure."

-- "Be good or you might get a visit from the bullet fairy."

-- "Sniper - When you only have 1 shot at an opportunity......We'll make it count"

-- "Law Enforcement......Helping perps slip down stairs since 1766"

-- "Math for Cops.........2 to the chest + 1 to the head = problem solved"

There's more to the story. He shot his girlfriend earlier in the day.

Killer of 2 NYPD officers first shot ex-girlfriend in Owings Mills

"The shooting of a woman at an Owings Mills apartment complex was the precursor for the ambush killing of two New York City police officers later in the day, law enforcement officials said.

Police in New York and Baltimore County said they believe Ismaaiyl Abdulah Brinsley shot and wounded his ex-girlfriend before 6 a.m. Saturday at an apartment near the Owings Mills Mall, then posted anti-law enforcement messages on social media as he traveled to Brooklyn, N.Y.

There, he approached a marked police vehicle parked in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood around 2:45 p.m. He "took a shooting stance" and fired a handgun several times through the window, New York Police Commissioner William Bratton said at a news conference."

If this is a police assassination in response to police having a license and using it to kill innocent people, than it's so damn sad there are assholes out there who have no faith that the system can't be righted by the good will of better people. People always create what they fear by punishing the police and creating terror of common citizens that can best be dealt with by the illogic of more and more police brutality, Those killers are infected by the very mentality they hate. Poor sick bastards. But by acceptance of police injustice, we create people who think that way. Can we please learn to see that violence begets violence..... endlessly.....

How about if we look at it the other way around. Pieces of crap like this is why the police have the attitude that they do.

Going to suck to be a Black non-White male in NYC for quite some time now. I imagine this one incident will bring back 80's and 90's tensions back into the NYC area.

Insanity.

Neither of those police officers were "white". Hispanic and Asian.

Are you choosing to ignore the fact that the opposite is true as well. A few bad cops cause people in a community to distrust all cops. Or can we only look at it from the cops perspective?

That view was presented in the post I responded to. I did not ignore anything.

I was just suggesting another way to look at it. And from what I have seen in my short 60 year life span is more factual than what you are suggesting.

Police brutality creates pieces of crap that create police brutality that produce pieces of crap that produce police brutality No pick up in there anywhere that you like because that is what I said. The endless cycle of violence.....

With what is happening around the country right now, I'm very surprised that this isn't much more common. In fact, I've wondered why it is not. You have these 17, 18 year old gangbangers who think nothing of killing each other and the consequences that follow their actions. Why aren't they killing cops by the hundreds?

Not sure.

I don't buy that part... " Police brutality creates pieces of crap ". The police are brutal because that is all these shitbirds understand.

Of course that is all my Opinion ... What came first the chicken or the egg.

Not surprised by this. The Police push an "Us vs. Them" attitude, eventually the "Them" will retaliate.

Darn Asians, not keeping it real in da hood, yo.

I am pretty sure blacks and hispanics are not 65% and 27% of New York population.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424127887323372504578467361507997492

I guess when Asians are defrauding, threatening, and killing their own and their community goes along with it, you must be fine with it because those crimes never show up on any statistics. Gangsterism is alive and well in every community. The ones you don't hear about are the most successful...

Eh, we're pretty far ahead the way I see it. I'd even call it an insurmountable lead.

Don't be such an asshole about this, man. Blacks make up 10% of the US population but they're responsible for 48% of all police deaths. Yes, the kills are not equal but it's not like both sides are equally armed. Also, when one side does it he's seen as a fallen hero, when the other side does it he's a thug and gets 25 to life.

That was too much, I hoped I had deleted it before anyone noticed.
I'm glad you hadn't. In the Michael Brown thread you had queried as to the legality of Darren Wilson being killed; being put down like a rabid dog, and now you condone the killing of these cops. I'm really surprised you haven't been banned, honestly. Your appreciation of murder of police in these forums is unique; nobody else is doing it.

Absolutely fucking awful. This is going to make things worse. :(

One side cannot be the victim forever. Maybe law enforcement will look into the abyss and decide that is not a place they want to go and stop their brutality against civilians. They're supposed to be peace officers, not soldiers.

NYPD cops furious with Bill de Blasio turn their backs on the mayor as he enters hospital where officers died

Wars on every front.

Former Gov. George Pataki also lashed out against the mayor, claiming the cops’ deaths were a “predictable outcome of divisive anti-cop rhetoric of #ericholder & #mayordiblasio.”

Shortly after the officers were killed, a MoveOn.org petition was formed demanding de Blasio’s ouster.

“NYC residents demand the exit of Mayor Bill DeBlasio after 2 NYPD officers were shot and killed today 12/20/14,” wrote the petitioners, who identified themselves as “The People of NYC.” The petitioners said de Blasio was “unfit to lead this city” and “unfit to have a relationship with his police department.”
